Making Twitter Time Productive

For some productivity enlightenment on this topic, I turned to online marketing advisor and founder of The Blog Squad, Denise Wakeman. Dipping in two to three times a day with the sole purpose of connecting, retweeting, answering questions and following links helps keep you focused, present and visible. Wakeman: I automate some of my tweeting — such as automatically posting links to my blog posts when they are published and Lately, I’ve been spending a fair amount of time in “tweet space.&# Not so much for myself, but for my clients — helping them figure out how to get the most marketing bang for their Twitter buck, and showing them ways to build their following and streamline their Twitter time management.

SLOWLY making my way back……

This is just a quick entry to thank all of you who responded to my recent travails as I once again got into a death match and barely made it out intact.. well, sort of. I now sport a new right jaw that almost matches my former “new” left jaw and incredible swelling that will take a few weeks to subside.

A Challenge: Stay True to Your Intentions

What would you need to do to make that happen and to only make that happen (and not start catering to other demands that might present themselves as a result of your efforts, unless they support your intentions)? What core tasks and milestones do you need to meet each day, week or month to see this through?

Coming to terms with Twitter

Before, I treated it sort of as an afterthought, including some information on Twitter during the two weeks that I covered blogging. could visit blogs any time I wanted, read the content, and comment on posts. Especially with RSS, once I was subscribed to a blog , I would never miss any content coming from it.

The (Initial) iPad Experience

When I travel, I use my laptop to work; I write, I diagram, I create presentations , and catch up on email. The iPad, however, was announced as coming with (or having available) software for word processing (Pages), diagramming (OmniGraffle), presentations (Keynote), and email (Mail). And once I tweeted this outcome, I very shortly thereafter had several requests for this blog post! (The I’m usually a late adopter of new technology, largely because I’m frugal.

What Can Enterprise 2.0 Adoption Learn from ERP Implementations?

was involved in one example were a blog was substituted for email and attachments as the way to support collaboration by a task force. The members had no choice and it was not presented as a big deal, just a switch in tools.  I recently received a survey that looked at ERP Implementation strategies . The results made sense to me.

Rally Your Audience with a Signature Close

“And that’s the way it is.” Former CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite closed every nightly broadcast with that signature phrase, a signal to his viewers of not simply the conclusion of his broadcast but the authenticity of what they had just experienced. The familiar phrase, repeated every weeknight, threw a security blanket around his viewers. His mantra — decisive on principle and incisive on purpose — made his audience feel special, that they had been part of something tailored specifically for them

Case study of agile and UCD working together

It was badly out of date, and the information architecture was decrepit to both users and search engines. Our goals were: Make content visible and easy to find Create an enjoyable and valuable user experience so users would return Increase page impressions to bring in ad revenue Allow site staff to present more rich media content Give the site more personality and interactivity The UX team created personas from ethnographic studies, online surveys, and in-depth interviews with users. This need gave rise to much more integrated blog postings.

Presentation : Participation in Communities of Practice

A while back I posted about and shared a presentation I did at a KM Conference in Perth last year. That presentation contained a couple of slides on participation and I spent a lot of time talking about these slides. For the CoP facilitators at my work I thought I would flesh this out into it’s own presentation , as participation is an important topic

The Four SMs: Media SM

Last year I wrote a short series of blogs on the AppGap called the “3 KMs:” Big KM , Little KM , and Personal KM . started putting some definitions around social terms in this blog recently (see Socializing), and then I was asked to give a talk about “social media” for a client (this is available on SlideShare ). That was the opportunity I needed to break out the distinctions in social media.

View/ViewModel Interaction – Bindings, Commands and Triggers

It looks like I have a set of posts on ViewModel, aka MVVM, that have organically emerged into a series or story of sorts. Recently, I blogged about The Case for ViewModel , and another on View/ViewModel Association using Convention and Configuration , and a long while back now, I posted an Introduction to the ViewModel Pattern as I was myself picking up this pattern, which has since become the natural way for me to program client applications
