SANAA’s viewpoint of the palm groves of Elche

The reflective path may have missed the top spot at international competition of “mirador del palmeral de elche” (Spain) by a whisker, but the runner-up project by Japanese architectural firm SANAA has everything to take you by wonder. Intending toward enhancing the palm groves of Elche, a UNESCO world heritage site, in the lines of the agricultural palm Arabic tradition, the reflective path ripples through the palm trees and spirals up into the sky, which presents a breathtaking view of the palmeral and the Valencia City to the visitors from 64m up in the sky

Opt for green electricity with UVonion

Inspired by the long range of products using solar energy, the “UVonion” by Yun Li is an onion shaped solar ultraviolet lamp that lightens up your surroundings and saves tremendous amount of energy. UVonion, though appears to be collecting the solar ultraviolet rays during the day time and emitting them at night, sanitizing your home from dangers of ultraviolet, but in actual, it converts solar energy into electrical energy using solar cells and in turn produces UV light powered by ultraviolet LED.

Designed by Rachael Stefanussen , a third year Industrial Design student at the University of Cincinnati: “The goal of the project is to develop the next generation packaging and point-of-purchase display for Basil Hayden’s Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The redesign must preserve the values and personality characteristic of the Basil Hayden brand identity while encouraging an increase in sale and popularity. The redesign must not only do justice to the heritage of bourbon as a drink, but also celebrate the delicate, refined characteristics that are unique to Basil Hayden’s

HAND-SANTI hand sterilizer uses UV rays to kill germs

Hand washing is a simple procedure to prevent the spread of germs and to avoid getting sick. Since we have to wash our hands before we eat, prepare a meal and after using the restroom, designer Mario Rubio has designed a hand sanitizing washing unit for up to four people, making it easier to place in public settings like hospitals, restaurants, kitchens, malls, schools and public restrooms

Michelin CAPARAZON concept doesn’t rely entirely on electronics

Probably drawing inspiration from the shell of turtles, Argentine designer Marcos Madia has come up with a futuristic vehicle for Michelin that would protect commuters as well as pedestrians by absorbing the fierce impacts, in the case of an accident. The “CAPARAZON,” as the designer calls the vehicle, is a car that doesn’t rely on electronics, as the propulsion is given by four in-wheel electric motors, which draw energy from batteries located in the base of the car. Finished with a flexible material developed by Michelin, which has different levels of density as it gets near to the center, the vehicle would absorb the deformation of possible impacts.
