We have covered a hell of a lot of portable furniture designs in the past, but we haven’t seen furniture as convenient but at the same time functional as this “Under-Koffer” suitcase table by Robert Haslbeck . Inspired by a wallpaper pasting table, German designer has popped up an innovative piece of furniture that folds to become a suitcase for easy transportation

Peugeot B1K removes handlebar to place you in an upright position

The “B1K” from Peugeot is a concept bicycle that removing the handlebar puts the rider in an upright position as if he/she is riding a Tron light cycle. Finished in carbon fiber, the sports bike features a chainless drivetrain for a neat and elegant design

Student Spotlight: Death By Chocolate

    “Death By Chocolate is a corporate design and packaging concept for a non-existing chocolate label. It is my final year project in communication design at Folkwang University in Essen. The dbc products are divided into a candybar range, wrapped in a soft, matt foil and a more sophisticated range of chocolates.  Both product ranges are finished with UV-Varnish and blind embossing. The aim was to create a unique packaging concept, that focuses on the myth of chocolate but transfers it into a modern, rock n roll kind of context.” Designed by  Denise Franke .

Galileo’s Telescope employs advanced optical technology

Inspired by the original Galileo Telescope made by Galileo Galilei in 1609, designer Odoardo Fioravanti has designed a new telescope as an attempt to bridge the gap between past & present and modernize the ancient instrument with advanced optical technology. Dubbed the “Galileo’s Telescope,” the new telescope is almost identical (in measurement, design and material) to the original one with trendy finish being the only exception. Made in wood, optical glass, metal and ABS, the Galileo’s Telescope has 1000 mm focal length, 60 mm objective diameter and 2” resolving power.

Sleep Suit lets you have a power nap anywhere, anytime

To keep up the pace with 24 x 7 work schedule, which usually becomes demanding for both mind and body, employees need a nap at regular intervals to sustain the pressure at contemporary workspaces. Inspired by Buckminster Fuller’s practice of Dymaxion Sleeping, which involves four 30-minute naps over a period of 24 hours, the “Sleep Suit” by Forrest Jessee is a sort of portable sleeping bag that lets the user have a power nap anywhere, anytime. Interweaving structural pleats made in EVA foam, often used as padding in sports equipments and sleeping bags, the Sleep Suit ensures optimum comfort even in hard surfaces

Personal Mobility Robot is a Segway for indoors

Intended toward the elderly and ones who have trouble moving indoors, the Indoor Personal Mobility Robot is a mechanical wheelchair that allows mobility around the house to the user. Furniture that represents ‘Neverending’ spirit of modern era

Developed for Italian manufacturer Andreoli, the “Neverending,” as its name suggests, is series of furniture that brings a sense of fluidity and movement to contemporary apartments. The brainchild of designer Luca Nichetto, the sleek furniture is finished in bent Corian sheets stretched to eternity, giving a whole new dimension to the interior decoration.

New work by Glenn Stewart of Mindscape Films : “The goal of the design was to reflect the international goals of the water (via the small text on the front with WATER in different languages) along with providing a design that would stand out from the rest of the bottled water that's currently on the market. The design of the bottle took on and off approximately six months, going through various different design iterations including trials on different stocks, and was also affected by getting approval for the right launch date. All of the profits from the sale of WATER FOR WATER go directly towards water based projects and initiatives and currently the first project is a Water Station in Caloocan, Philippines

KCAP teams up with JHK to provide park and ride facility in Utrecht

Commissioned by the Municipality of Utrecht, the KCAP Architects & Planners teaming up with JHK Architecten is set for the construction of park and ride facility P&R Hooggelegen in Utrecht by next year. Situated between Papendorp office park and the Hooggelegen intersection, the P&R project will comprise a nine storey and a seven storey building, each spreading in 31,000 sq m area with 1,000 parking slots. Connecting the parking slots by bridges via an internal route on the second level, the P&R feature the facades finished in light bronze and silvery anodized aluminum lamellas

Inspired by the defensive shell of an Armadillo, designer Julien Bergignat has come up with a protective headgear called “Tattoo”which isn’t only lightweight and cost-effective but also 100% recyclable. Made entirely in polypropylene, the bicycle helmet flattens its wings to slip in a backpack for easy transportation, while the high absorption power of the EPP (expanded polypropylene) makes it safe and durable. To put the headgear back in shape, you may simply fold the wings inward and fix them with a pressure clip

Presented at the CES 2010, the “iTamtam” by Branex Design is a smart iPod/iPhone dock with speaker that besides being charging your Apple gadgets also provides space to sit on. Featuring four 1.5-inch tweeters with 10W of maximum power handling and a 5.25-inch 80W subwoofer to contribute an overall power rating of 70W, the docking stool also integrates a 3.5mm audio jack to connect other digital audio players. Weighting about 11.5 pounds, the multifunctional dock will soon be available in a variety of colors, including pink, blue, orange, red, purple, green and yellow, for $570
